Internship Opportunities at the Beacon Hill Institute

SPRING 2011 APPLICATION PROCESS WILL BEGIN SEPTEMBER 1, 2010!

Each semester and during the summer, BHI welcomes qualified college students to intern at our office. We require at least a 10-hour per week commitment of your time, but can offer flexible scheduling within our office hours. The positions are uncompensated but offer rich real-world experience. Previous interns have participated in important Institute projects including: state tax policy, telecommunication taxation, health care spending research; labor policy and cost-benefit analysis of alternative energy projects in Massachusetts. Morover, interns are actively involved in data collection our annual State Competitiveness Report; State Tax Analysis Modeling Program (STAMP) data collection and analysis and contributing to our web site development. Intern Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Research background on policy issues for reports and publications;
  • Assist as needed on all aspects of policy research and analysis;
  • Sort and review press articles and policy issue releases;
  • Clip and copy articles of interest from newspapers, magazines and journals;
  • Assist with data entry for database and survey tabulation;
  • Perform general office assistance.
