The national publication, Human Events, showcased the Beacon Hill Institute in its weekly “Conservative Spotlight” column (8-14-98).
Our editorial, “Just who needs to be protected?” appeared in the Boston Globe (7-28-98). The Boston Herald published our editorial on the Massachusetts budget surplus, “Surplus signals a minus” (6-14-98). During June and July, editorials on the budget surplus appeared in Cape Cod Times, Mass High Tech, Middlesex News, North Adams Transcript, Standard-Times and Sunday Republican.
The Boston Globe used BHI data in compiling a chart to accompany an article, “90s expansion fosters trickle back economics” (7-22-98).
David Tuerck was quoted in the Boston Globe, “Cellucci reinvents strategy,” (7-29-98) and in “Tax cut defines GOP candidates' bottom line” (7-15-98).
On July 14, David Tuerck appeared on WGBH-TV's “Greater Boston with Emily Rooney ” to discuss the Massachusetts budget surplus. Appearing with him on the program was Patricia McGovern, a Democratic candidate for Governor. (See photo above).
The Wall Street Journal (New England Journal) did a story on our analysis of Massachusetts budget surpluses, “Think Tank Report Sees Negatives in Massachusetts Budget Surpluses” (7-8-98). Other newspapers covering our report included the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, Middlesex News, the Milford Daily News, the Patriot Ledger, the Salem Evening News, the Sun Chronicle, the Wakefield Daily Item and the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
David Tuerck was interviewed by several Massachusetts radio stations in conjunction with the budget surplus: WBSN, WBUR-FM, WBZ-AM, WHAI-AM, WHYN, WSAR and WTAW.
Several newspapers cited BHI in their editorials on the budget surplus: Wakefield Daily Item, “Don't give surplus to special interests” (7-14-98), Sunday Eagle-Tribune, “It's time to start screaming” (7-12-98) and Gloucester Daily Times, “Roasting the pork” (7-10-98).
David Tuerck editorialized in support of charitable tax credits for Massachusetts on WCVB-TV (6-24-98). (See photo left).
Mass High Tech cited BHI in its editorial supporting income tax rate reduction (6-1/7-98).
